Fukui Prefectural “Ichijodani Asakura Clan Site Museum” opens on October 1. Experience one of Japan’s representative medieval city ruins!
Ichijodani is located about 10 km southeast of downtown Fukui, and the ruins of the castle town of the Asakura clan, a feudal lord in the Warring States period, were buried in good condition. The Ichijodani Asakura Ruins Museum, based on the ruins, opened on October 1, 2022, and features a full-size reproduction of part of the mansion of the fifth head of the Asakura clan, Yoshikage Asakura, a giant diorama of the castle town, and numerous valuable artifacts, as well as other highlights of the history and ruins of the Asakura clan.
