Restaurants in Kyoto where you can watch Japan’s World Cup soccer matches

スポーツ・文化

The Soccer World Cup IN Qatar is approaching. Japan’s first match will be against Germany on November 23. Since the game will be held in Qatar, the start time of the game is not so convenient. The only game that can be watched at a decent time is the match against Costa Rica on Sunday, November 27, starting at 19:00 Japan time.

vs Germany November 23 (Wed.) 22:00
vs Costa Rica November 27 (Sun.) 19:00
vs Spain December 1 ( Thu.) 28:00

The game against Germany starts at 10:00 p.m., so we will be able to watch it. Also, this match will be televised by NHK and can be viewed in real time on NHK Plus, so you can watch it on the go if you pay your subscription fee and have the app installed. The problem is the Spain game, so ideally I should go to bed around 9:00 p.m. on December 1 and wake up before 4:00 a.m. the next day.

Now, as for where to watch the games, I think most people watch at home. But it is more exciting to cheer with others, isn’t it? So, here are some restaurants in Kyoto that will broadcast all three games.

That restaurant is HUB Shijo-Karasuma, which is well known to soccer fans. To our surprise, this restaurant will broadcast all the matches. As expected, there will be few people for the Spain game, but Germany and Costa Rica will be a lot of fun. To be sure to get in, I recommend making a reservation. We made it to the restaurant, but they were full and we couldn’t get in! Then, you may not be able to watch the match itself.

There are many foreign tourists now, so you may be able to have a good time with foreigners as well as Japanese.

–Addendum December 5, 2022

You can also watch the games on a large-screen TV at the dining bar “Comogomo” in Shijo-Omiya.
